2011 Year in Review

Two thousand and eleven has certainly been a whirlwind. we’ve been blessed with many opportunities and much excitement this year. Lots miles were spent on the road between St. Joseph, Missouri, and Independence, Iowa, not to mention the miles that were spending visiting with friends and family.

January – We headed to Chicago to celebrate the New Year. Jon’s Christmas present was tickets to a Chicago Bulls game. Both Jon and I had never been to a NBA game before, and although the NHL will still be number one in my heart, it was amazing to watch NBA MVP Derek Rose. The next stop was Denver for National Western. There really isn’t a better time of year to be surrounded by great cattle and awesome friends. Jon’s family was also fortunate enough to see repeat success in the Hereford shows.

Busy time around the farm

This year Jon and I will be selling three calves in the Iowa Beef Expo sale. We've been busy halter breaking, clipping and photography our lots, and we are pretty proud of how everything is looking. Plus, we've got a couple more in the pasture that we are really excited for you to all see if you stop out at the farm before the wedding.

Be sure to visit the farm website www.jjbcattleco.com for more information on the lots.

Engagement photo day

Up Bright and Early

This weekend Jon and I had an awesome time with our friends. It was our annual American Royal together weekend, which meant great cattle, wonderful friends and lots of laughs. This year we also throw in engagement photos.

I really can not say enough wonderful this about our photographer Chris of La Brisa Photography. I have admired his work for a long time, and we are so excited for him to be our wedding photographer.

The morning started REALLY early. By 6:30 a.m. we were in my car and headed to Smithville Lake, Missouri. Chris thought it would be awesome to start off the day with a sunrise session, so did we. We just forgot how cold it was going to be. Chris, Jon and I braved the below freezing temperatures but as you can see it was definitely worth it.

You can check out the rest of our teaser photos at La Brisa Photography's Facebook page and be sure to give them a like.

Moving to Iowa

Well the time has finally come to make the big move to Iowa.

I might be a farm girl,
but I still love my
beauty products!
The beginning of October I left my job with the American Angus Association and joined Vitaferm Sure Champ as their Sure Champ product and marketing manager. Not only have I been provided with an amazing opportunity to work for an awesome company, but I am also going to get to work from Iowa.

I've been frantically packing boxes, and Jon has been trying to figure out where we are going to put all my house in our little house. I'm not sure how I have accumulated this much stuff!

We can't wait to get everything in its place. And don't worry we love house guests, so you are all more than welcome to come for a visit - but you might have to sleep on the couch because the second bedroom is now my home office ;)
